CD31 (also named platelet/endothelial cell adhesion molecule 1 – PECAM-1) is expressed on endothelial cells and circulating and tissue-phase hematopoietic cells.
This antibody is a useful tool for the identification of vascular disorders (e.g. angiosarcoma) and determination of angiogenesis in some tumors. Positive results aid in the classification of benign and malignant human vascular disorders. Differentiation identification is aided by the results from a panel of antibodies. CD31 is useful as part of the panel for the identification of epithelioid and spindled tumors in the skin and soft tissue. |
