| Calretinin is a member of the superfamily of calcium-binding protein. It is abundantly expressed in central and peripheral neural tissues. Calretinin is expressed by both normal and neoplastic mesothelial cells and is a useful marker for the identification of malignant mesothelioma of the epithelial type and for the differentiation of the malignancies from metastases of lung adenocarcinoma. Differential diagnosis is aided by the results from a panel of antibodies. |
