| E-Cadherin is an adhesion protein that is expressed in epithelial cells and concentrated in cell-cell adheren junctions. Down-regulation of E-Cadherin expression has been observed in a number of carcinomas and is usually associated with advanced stage and progression. Detection of E-Cadherin expression is useful in distinguishing adenocarcinoma from mesothelioma, the differentiation of ductal from lobular breast cancer. |
